Custom Order....

I just had to share this lovely custom request I've recently had. A fellow Folkster expressed an interest in one of my little bird brooches. She was wanting to attach it to a bag but also had the space to pin on some little baby birds too. So here is the resulting order.... mama bird with 3 little babies, very cute if I do say so myself!!

A new week and new inspiration.....

Last week I had a bit of a sort through my fabric stash. I had actually forgotton how much I had and couldn't even remember buying some of the fabrics I rediscovered! The main reason for the sort out was the fact that I was wanting to make my Dad a Fathers Day card. So underneath all the pink floral girlie fabrics I've been using recently, I found some lovely fabrics slightly more suitable!

I was really rather pleased with the resulting card. It's a bit different to the more recent things that I've been working on, but think it worked quite well.... using this as a starting point (and a good excuse to do a bit more fabric shopping!) I have decided to do a small range along a similar theme. I've put together a little colour story with some lovely muted lilacs, blues and greys , with some fab printed cotton fabrics and neutral linens. I hope to do a small range of greetings cards along with a couple of framed pictures for starters. Watch this space for an update!!

The birds are back.....

My little bird brooches have been a bit neglected recently. I still have a few left in my Folksy shop, hidden somewhere beneath the hearts, flowers and lavender bags! Anyway, I thought it was about time to add a few new birdie items, so this week I have been sewing away and have listed a few new brooches.

All are hand sewn with little beaded details and lots of ribbon and buttons as usual! One design has already been reserved, with an additional request for three matching baby birdies! So here are the new designs along with some others I currently have available. All are brooches but can be adapted into key rings if requested, if interested please message me at Folksy!

New..... lavender bags

New to my Folksy shop today is this pretty lavender bag, a new product which I hope to be listing more of soon. It is very girly and pink with a lovely little ribbon flower detail.

Below is a detail from one I will be listing tomorrow, in lovely bright pastels with coordinating buttons. They contain French lavender and smell beautiful. The bags are ideal for placing in a drawer or hanging in a wardrobe, bedroom or nursery! Ummm take a deep breath in and relax....

The big 5-0...

Yay! I've actually made it to 50 sales in my Folksy shop! I have been hovering on 49 for what seems like ages, but it was lovely to check in this morning to find I had sold one of my corsages..... happy dance time!!

I wasn't really sure what to expect when I set up my Folksy shop last September, but overall I've been quite pleased. The sales have trickled in and I've had a couple of repeat customers along the way which is always a big thankyou to all that have purchased and to those that have done a bit if window shopping along the way!! Here's to the next 50!

Summers Returned!

We are very fortunate to live in a village on the outskirts of Huddersfield with some lovely countryside and walks on our doorstep. We have lived here almost three years and love it just as much now as when we first discovered the area.

Today we have been on a short circular walk (just enough for my my 2 1/2 year old daughters little legs to manage!). This took us into the local village and then along a footpath with fantastic views towards the Pennines, then back through the woods towards home!

On the route back home is Hinchliffes Farm Shop, ( our local shop which sells a wonderful array of local produce. There is also a small selection of animals which always keeps daughter Hannah amused! We love the adjoining Farmhouse Restaurant.... the menu is delicious and cakes are second to none!! The view looking towards Huddersfields Castle Hill from the veranda is fabulous on a sunny day, and all just a couple of minutes walk from home!!
